The Youth Empowerment & ICT Foundation presents the one day conference titled “Social Media Awareness: the Good, the Bad & the Opportunities“. This programme is aimed at creating awareness among the youths on the benefits as well as the negative effects of social media usage.The conference will feature inspiring speakers like Linda Ikeji, Lanre Aina of Google Nigeria, Chude Jideonwo, Kaptain of GidiTraffic among others.

500 youths were trained by professionals on developing software mobile application for five days in 2012. This training program offered attendees practical, technical and entrepreneurship skills necessary for jobs and job creation in the emerging ICT driven market. Attendees were grouped in teams of five individuals per group. A software application business hackathon was organised and five ideas were selected for funding at the end of the five-day training.

The Jim Ovia Foundation has during a week long ICT youth empowerment programme it organised in partnership with Google, IBM, Visafone, Microsoft and TLC Solutions announced a grant to the tune of N50 million for 10 most successful young Nigerians after the training held in Lagos last week.More than 350 young people who are students of tertiary institutions of learning and young graduates participated in the programme.
Jim Ovia, chairman and founder of Zenith Bank Plc,  declared at Nigeria Information Technology Award (NITMA) 2015 that Jim Ovia ICT Foundation will henceforth sponsor the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) scholarship programmes for the members.NCS has previously instituted the scholarship programme to assist members pursue critical research programmes for the betterment of the industry.

Youth Empowerment and ICT Foundation, an initiative of Jim Ovia Foundation recently in Lagos donated over 500 computers to not fewer than 300 schools in Nigeria and over 150 laptops with one year free internet access to students. Also, more than 1000 Blackberry and Android smartphones were given to students that pre-registered online for the event.
